The Vacuum Pycnometer Apparatus is designed for determining the theoretical maximum specific gravity and density of uncompacted bituminous paving mixtures at 25°C (77°F). It can also be used to rapidly determine asphalt content, the bulk specific gravity of aggregates, the specific gravity of compacted bituminous mixtures, and the percentage of air voids in the sample.
Manufactured from transparent plexiglass, the apparatus provides clear visibility during testing and is supplied complete with a valve and gauge, four clippers, and a 500 ml filter flask.
